The idea of traveling off season (without compromising the wine experience) is appealing. I haven't yet been on a wine tour. However, a number of years ago I was in Bordeaux, right after a summer rain shower. The perfume of grapes in the air was mind blowing. I'll never forget that. I don't live in wine country--so I don't take things like that for granted! :-) I love this suggested itinerary.
