The wineries were very good and the staff were very informative, we got individual attention because the tour contained only the two of us! Can´t praise Fernando our driver guide enough- totally professional, knowledgeable, smartly dressed at all times, punctual, the Mercedes was immaculate and took us to fabulous “off the tourist track” for lunches. I would also like to praise the skipper who took us on the Douro River trip. Due to the possibility of rain he brought a small engined craft and kindly provided us with a bottle of his own port, he was very sweet. Would recommend Cellar Tours as the organisation is excellent and the tour entertaining.”

With so many places in the world that we haven’t been, it’s hard to think about going back to the same place again, but we all want to get back to Portugal again. First and foremost, Fernando was an absolute GEM! We both feel that Fernando added something very special to our vacation. From the moment he picked us up at the airport to the moment we had to say goodbye, Fernando was a true professional and a fantastic ambassador for the Portuguese people. We went for the port, but fell in love with the country, the people, the history, the table wine, and the food (Laura is going through Bacalhau withdrawal and we are desperately trying to locate Serra cheese in Arizona!!!). Your providers were great — Diogo, our driver, was terrific and the tour guides in Lisbon, Sintra and Porto were great. The winery in the Douro Valley was absolutely perfect — we couldn’t have had a better experience. Our visit to the port cellar Graham’s was also great. Wineries were all extremely friendly, fun and informative and professional. No negatives. Absolutely we would recommend you for any tour. You planned wonderful events for us, the accommodations were great, everything was utterly seamless. More importantly, you were following up on everything in real time while we were there. That was very much appreciated and really added to our confidence in the entire experience and your organizational skills and abilities.

We felt as if Cellar Tours was concerned at all times about how our tour was progressing and if we were enjoying ourselves.

Fernando, our driver guide, was extremely helpful and always had our best interests at heart. Our time at Esporao could not have been any better. The lunch was absolutely phenomenal. Enough can’t be said about the quality of the food served along with the pairing of the wines chosen. Overall, this was a highlight of the trip. The cruise was a very enjoyable portion of our tour. The break for lunch was enjoyable and the stop at Pacheca was extremely interesting as they explained the various wines made at the Quinta as well as the differences between the various versions of Port wine. We enjoyed Oporto and spent the morning there. It was a marvelous city. We think that the tour was very well organized and was both enjoyable and worth the price.

Sofia and her husband Jochen, and Dina their winemaker at Casal Branco, were wonderful, relaxed hosts and great fun, and they clearly love what they do and are fiercely proud of it. Luis our driver looked after us very well. He was thoroughly professional and punctual, and friendly but without ever being intrusive; he probably got used to us dozing in the back of the car in the afternoons after a tasting! The Douro Valley is quite extraordinary and just as beautiful as the photographs suggest. I think our two favourite episodes were the day spent at Casal Branco, and the trip to the Douro Valley. Would recommend Cellar Tours as very efficient and informative at the office end, and all proceeded smoothly and according to plan once we reached Portugal. We felt that we were being looked after at all stages, and that is the personal service that one expects to pay for.
