Tapas & Wine Tasting

5PM Your private group will be collected by luxurious coach at your hotel or conference and transferred to the elegant and historic Alonso Martinez quarter of Madrid, near the Plaza del Colon. Arrive to a 19th century refined building where this private wine academy is. The venue is divided into two sections- the well lit professional wine tasting classroom where you will have the wine tasting and a smaller cozier room decked out with black leather couches and vintage wine posters, for the tapas party afterwards. Your hosts this evening are an exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable American Basque couple who will entertain your group immensely.
Let the Spanish Wine Masterclass begin! You will begin with a taste of sparkling Cava from the premium Augusti Torello, called “Krypta” (Spain’s most exclusive brand). Learn all about the native grape varietals used to make cava like Xarel.lo, Macabeo and Parellada, and some fun facts and anecdotes. The tasting will continue with a high end white Godello based wine from the sexy Valdeorras region, near Rias Baixas. Godello is the hot new white grape that is tantalizing wine critics like Robert Parker, and your hosts will tell you all this and other wine trends. Follow with voluptuous red wines such as Dominio de Tares Viejas Viñas from Bierzo, Vega Sicilia´s phenomenal Pintia from the Toro region and Clos de l´Obac from the chic Priorat region. Conclude the tasting with a sweetie from the Sherry wine country like an Amontillado from the Lustau estate.
After this superb wine tasting, your group will enjoy a tapas and Basque Pintxos party, relax and savor the wines from the tasting with about 20 different types of gourmet dishes. Spanish cheeses will be on offer like the delicious blue Cabrales cheese from Asturias and the smoked Idiazabal cheese from the Basque lands. After dinner, your happy guests will be transferred back to their hotel, taking away a gourmet gift with them and a personalized gift card with your company logo, thanking them for attending the wine tasting and tapas party event.
