Wine Tasting Excursions Overview:
If you will be visiting Barcelona or Madrid on business and would like to bring your group out for a
day or an evening on a unique countryside excursion, why not wine country? These Wine Tasting
trips are incredibly popular, and are great options if you have a particularly large group
(we can take up to 250 people, and as few as 8, so we cater to all sizes). From Barcelona,
the wine tasting region nearest is Penedes, approximately one hour south. We can organize
moonlight winery visits and wine dinners in private villas for your special groups, as well
as day trips to include champagne lunches at top cellars. In Madrid, the two nearest wine
regions are Ribera del Duero and La Mancha. In Ribera, we can organize VIP winery visits
and corporate lunches and barbecues at winemakers private homes. In La Mancha, we can organize
winery visits and outdoor rustic lunches of roast lamb, slow cooked over vine leaves with black
tie waiters and plenty of free flowing wine. Here are a few sample ideas of wine country
corporate outings:
From Barcelona- Moonlight Vineyard Walk and Wine Dinner in 15th Cent. Villa
In the early evening (approx 6:30PM/7PM) your group will be collected by luxury coach (with
leather seats, drinks onboard and English speaking driver). You'll transfer south to the
famed Mediterranean wine region of Penedes, renowned for some of Spain's best wines. An
exclusive "Moonlight" visit is in store at a famed estate. After a private tour of the
historic cellars and a fascinating wine museum, your group will enjoy an informal and relaxing
wine tasting. The next part of the evening is the really special part- a VIP Dinner in a 15th
century villa, feasting on a 3 course gourmet meal paired with wines. The winery will host
the dinner and your group can relax in gorgeous surroundings in this special locale, located
right in the vineyards. Your group will returned to the hotel by about midnight, but not
before the winery will presnet gifts of wine for each participant on the tour. This is a
wonderful evening, one your staff and clients will definitely remember.
From Madrid- Wines of Don Quixote and Rustic Barbecue in the Vineyard
About one hour south of Madrid, you have the wine region of La Mancha, a region known
in past for mediocre wines- not anymore! Huge investment in the area in the last few
years has proved to be rewarding and Cellar Tours are proud to work with the excellent
winery of Martue. Your group will be collected at your Madrid hotel and swept off to
the cellars. After a private visit to this smallish winery, we will enjoy a fantastic
wine tasting with the owners. A five course lunch will follow, served outside barbecue
style in the vineyards themselves, very charming. Lunch will consist of a champagne
aperitif, cured cheeses and hams, roast peppers, baby lamb roast on the vine leaves,
and various salads and pies, and finished off with 2 speical homemade desserts. After
lunch, brandies and coffees are in order and even a vineyard walk. This is an
unpretentious, great day out in wine country with warm Spanish winemakers as your hosts.
