Madrid is home to one of the most interesting culinary and society personalities in Spain- Pilar Latorre. Pilar is famous in the gastro-scene in Madrid's already ample selection of top chefs. Featured in Departures magazine, Gourmet and Habitania, along with a flurry of TV shows, Pilar (a Barcelona transplant who has only been in Madrid a few years) has taken the city by storm. Trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, with cooking courses taken in Tuscany and Zurich, Pilar has also travelled around the world for her gastronomic inspiration. Apart from Europe and The States, which Pilar has travelled extensively, she has also cooked and travelled from Bali, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Hong Kong, Morocco, Madagascar, Guatemala, to Brazil. Needless to say, she returned to Spain with enormous experience and new culinary ideas. Apart from being an avid chef, Pilar is an art collector and enthusiastic photographer and regularly showcases her photography in Spain. You will have your own private cooking class with Pilar, as well as a gourmet walking tour of the Alonso Martinez and Chueca quarters of Madrid, tasting sublime hot chocolate enroute. This gourmet day experience in Madrid is designed for food and wine lovers who are also interested in art, travel and fine living. Contact us for more information!

Your day begins in the morning when your your private chauffeured Mercedes and your private guide meet you at your hotel to sweep you off your feet for an entertaining gourmet day experience.
Your chauffeur will drop you and your guide in the trendy Chueca/ Alonso Martinez quarter where you will enjoy a walking tour with a gourmet focus. Breakfast will be Aztec Hot Chocolate and Spanish pastries at a stylish choco shop. Carry on to visit a variety of shops including Olive Oil, cheese, organic honeys, wine and even a little culinary shops selling gourmet sea salts. Your walk will conclude at the beautiful private home of local high society personality Pilar Latorre, where she has a professional compact kitchen, separate cooking classroom, and lovely dining room where you will lunch with the chef herself and her charming Swiss husband, Rene.
You will begin with a glass of a delicious white wine from Rueda, using the delightful Verdejo grape variety. While you are setting up the class, enjoy a nibble of some marinated Spanish olives and the delicious “pan con tomate” (country bread drenched in extra virgin olive oil, sea salt and fresh tomatoes, divine!). Your cooking class with Pilar will consist of an appetizer, a main course and dessert. Pilar´s signature dishes include Foie Pyramid on apple with dash of smoked sea salt, her famous salads and dessert with edible flowers, Watermelon Gazpacho, and Citrus Sea Bass. The menu will depend on the time of year as Pilar themes her classes using ingredients that are fresh in season, such as wild mushrooms and truffles in autumn.
After your class (where you will learn some practical techniques and also have fun in this friendly, informal environment), you´ll sit down for lunch with Pilar, tasting your dishes paired with a superb wine from the very hot Bierzo wine region.Following lunch, your chauffeur will pick you up and you will say good bye to Pilar, but not before receiving a very special gourmet gift to take away with you, along with a keepsake booklet of recipes and a top Spanish cookbook. Your chauffeur will drop you back off at your hotel or at your preferred drop off point in Madrid. This is an unforgettable "taste" of Madrid!

Customer Feedback:
“As to the cooking lesson. I have nothing but good words (and a few comments). We were very impressed with both Pilar and Rene. It was wonderful being in their home, we felt extremely comfortable. The conversation was interesting and it was terrific to be able to get a feel for Spanish life. Pilar is incredibly talented (her photography is spectacular). They have set up their home to make the cooking lessons work especially well. The cameras are a wonderful addition.”
