The superb Rioja winery of Hermanos Peciña has become a leading light in this beautiful vinous region in northern Spain. Located outside gorgeous San Vicente de la Sonsierra in the heart of Rioja Alta, a region known for producing some of the most elegant, profound and long-lived expressions of Rioja, vine cultivation has been happening here since the 12th century. Hoping to carry on this proud tradition, Pedro Peciña Crespo decided to produce quintessential, velvety Rioja on his ancestral land.
The winery was created in the early 90´s when Pedro and his three adult children decided to found a small winery on the site that today houses his much grander modern facility. Pedro knew, however, that a show-stopping winery needed the best quality fruit to ferment. In 1997, a state of the art facility was opened, followed by the acquisition of further vineyard parcels in 2002. The potential was always there but Pedro still had a lot to live up to, as his Riojan neighbours had been bottling fine wines for generations. His incredible hard work, investment and passion have paid off; you just have to try his wines to see how.
The estate produces an astonishing variety of wines, which impress all who taste them with their consistency and elegance. The Gran Reserva is the blockbuster, a complex, elegant and velvety red which demands slow appreciation.
