9.00 AM Your private chauffeured Mercedes will collect you at your hotel in Pisa or Siena. From Pisa, you will transfer south on a fast road that hugs the coast for part pf the journey. The drive to the Maremma wine region from Pisa is an easy hour drive.
10.00 AM Visit your first Super Tuscan estate such as the mythical Ornellaia Estate located in the little wine hamlet of Bolgheri You will receive a VIP private visit, and enjoy a vineyard walk and cellar tour before a phenomenal wine tasting.
After this "aperitif", you will head to the wine village of Suvereto where you will sit down to a thoroughly charming restaurant right in the main Piazza. This gourmet haunt is a converted 13th century "Frantoio" (olive oil mill). Your hosts are terribly charming and you will enjoy an Olive Oil tasting before your Tuscan style lunch.
After a convivial lunch with your wine guide, you will head to the second winery of the day. The next visit may be the fabulous Tua Rita, also located in Suvereto. Rita and her husband Virgilio first planted their vineyards back in '88. Like other "Super Tuscans", they planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, along with the native Sangiovese grape varietal. They have received amazing reviews for their wines and are considered to be one of the best "garage" wineries in Italy.
You will enjoy a private tour of the tiny cellar, followed by a tasting of great wines which may include Perlato del Bosco (their flagship Sangiovese) or Sileno (an unusual white blend of Traminer, Riesling and barrel fermented chardonnay).
Alas, your day comes to an end. You'll transfer from Suvereto back to Pisa (or Siena) and this will conclude you luxury wine tasting excursion with Cellar Tours.
