The wine country of Alentejo, only a few hours east of Lisbon, is a delight. You'll visit the leading estate in the region and taste various wines made with little-known native varietals such as Arinto (an aromatic white) and Aragonês (actually a distant cousin of Spain's Tempranillo grape). On this private tour of Portugal, you'll enjoy a city break in Lisbon, a Port wine tasting, a winery visit (dry reds and whites), a visit to one of the oldest monasteries in Europe and a chauffeured tour of the coast north of Lisbon.

- Today, you will visit the lovely town of Sintra, a magical place located just outside of Lisbon. Traditionally it was a place of residence for Moorish rulers, Catholic monarchs, Portuguese gentry and aristocrats. It is where the crème de la crème of high society have lived for centuries, and is now home to modern day moguls and millionaires. Sintra has an almost decadent amount of stunning palaces and gardens, including the one and only "Palacio da Pena", a wildly extravagant palace, built in the 1840's for Queen Maria II by her husband, emulating the castles of Ludwig of Bavaria (Disney's inspiration). Sintra is verdant, lush, graceful, and utterly charming.

- You'll enjoy a wine tasting and lunch before heading back to Lisbon, via the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril. In Lisbon, you'll enjoy a guided driving tour of the city's most beautiful spots.

- Finally, in the early evening, you will continue your Portuguese wine education with a Port wine tasting, held for you in a palatial wine bar. Your driver should have you back to your hotel before 6PM and you can enjoy Lisbon on your own tonight.

- You'll receive a walking tour of Evora, seeing the highlights, before heading back to Lisbon in the afternoon.

- Evening on your own to enjoy Lisbon's nightlife- try "As Docas", a lively area on the docks full of restaurants and bars.

- Today your driver/guide will collect you at your hotel and will take you to the Moorish walled town of Óbidos, one of the most picturesque towns in Portugal. After enjoying a stroll along the narrow streets of Óbidos, your tour will continue on to quaint fishing village of Nazaré, where you will have lunch on your own at one of the seafront restaurants, where you can taste freshly caught fish and taste some Portuguese Vinho Verde wines.

- After lunch your chauffeur will take you to visit the 14th century Gothic monastery in Batalha, extremely impressive. You will be near the shrine of Fátima , should you like to visit. In the early evening, you'll return to Lisbon for the final night of this fascinating vacation.

- We recommend you take in a Fado show tonight, perhaps at Café Luso, locate din the romantic Bairro Alto district.

- Evening on your own.
