Day 1Porto - Douro Valley - Porto
At 9 a.m., your friendly and elegant chauffeur will collect you from your hotel in Porto city, and you will be swept away to the Douro Valley! Enjoy the 90-minute drive and enjoy the fabulous scenery; there will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos or use the amenities en route. You will arrive at Pinhão Quay, where your luxurious yacht will be moored with your attentive and knowledgeable hostess and skipper waiting to welcome you on board.
You will enjoy a splendid cruise, sipping chilled white port and admiring the spectacular views of the hills on either side of the river, which are meticulously terraced, featuring rows of grapevines carefully cultivated. The leisurely pace of the cruise affords you the luxury of time to truly appreciate the tireless dedication, unwavering perseverance, and sheer determination exhibited by generations of winery owners and their skilled workforce. You will disembark at Quinta da Gricha, one of the Douro Valley’s most picturesque estates renowned for producing Churchill’s Port and Douro wines. As you step onto the pier, your private guide will warmly welcome you before guiding you on an informative and engaging walk through the estate’s lush vineyards. As you walk, your guide will explain the pivotal role of the estate’s unique terroir in shaping its wines’ distinctive flavors and visit the iconic Gricha Fountain, the namesake of this storied estate.
Then, on to the lodge, which dates back to 1852 and houses the historic granite Lagares still used today. Here, we will arrange an exclusive tasting of the Quinta’s Dry Douro and Port wines, including their single variety Touriga Nacional and Grande Reserva, 30-year-old Tawny, and Vintage Port – exquisite!
By now, you will almost certainly have worked up an appetite; at least, we hope so because lunch is a spectacular feast of some of the best, mouth-watering regional dishes and desserts, perfectly paired with more Churchill’s wines. Weather permitting, lunch is served under the orange trees on the beautiful “Patio das Laranjeiras.” Enjoy a delicious lunch paired with estate wines with a spectacular backdrop of the Douro Valley.
After lunch, your luxury yacht will be waiting at the dock. Once you are back onboard, sit back and relax, soaking up some rays, and watch the world go by as you slowly retrace your morning voyage back to Pinhão.
