Expert guides to leading wine estates across South Africa

South African Winery Guide

Explore South Africa’s wineries, region by region

The Cape Winelands are within easy reach of Cape Town, yet each area has its own character. Stellenbosch remains the historic heart of South African fine wine, Franschhoek combines handsome estates with an exceptional dining scene, while the cooler vineyards of Elgin are particularly suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Our selection draws on more than two decades of planning private wine journeys in South Africa and reflects estates distinguished by their wines, history, setting, or the quality of the visitor experience.

Our winery guides introduce a selection of estates chosen for their wines, history, setting, and visitor experience. Cellar Tours can arrange private visits, chauffeured transport, specialist guides, vineyard lunches, luxury hotels, and restaurant reservations, bringing the Cape’s wineries, landscapes, and gastronomy together in a tour tailored to your interests and tastes.
