Expert guides to leading quintas, wineries and Port houses across Portugal

Portuguese Winery Guide

Explore Portugal’s wineries, region by region

Portugal’s wine estates range from the terraced quintas of the Douro and historic Port lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia to the broad vineyards of the Alentejo and Atlantic-influenced properties around Lisboa and Setúbal. Arranged by region, our winery guides explore each estate’s history, vineyards, wines, and individual character.

Our selection draws on more than two decades of planning private wine journeys in Portugal and reflects estates and Port lodges distinguished by their wines, history, setting, or the quality of the visitor experience.

Many of the leading properties receive visitors by appointment only, while others are not generally open to the public. Cellar Tours can recommend the most rewarding estates, arrange private visits where possible, and organize chauffeured transport, expert guides, hotels, and restaurant reservations as part of a tailor-made journey through Portugal’s wine regions.

Lisboa Wine Region

Atlantic breezes and a varied landscape of hills and coastal vineyards give Lisboa an unusually diverse range of fresh whites and characterful reds.

Península De Setúbal

South of Lisbon, the vineyards around Palmela and the Serra da Arrábida are known for Castelão reds and the richly aromatic Moscatel de Setúbal.
