Day 1Seville

When you arrive in Seville, your private chauffeur and luxury Mercedes will be waiting. Head first to your historic luxury hotel, Hotel Alfonso XIII, near the center, check in, and take time to refresh, relax, and soak up the atmosphere after your journey.
At a pre-arranged time, meet your expert history/art guide in the hotel lobby and begin a leisurely but informative private guided tour of historic Seville. Visit the Giralda and Seville Cathedral, then continue to the Real Alcázar, whose palace complex began in the early 10th century and was expanded by successive Islamic and Christian rulers. Explore the enchanting Casa de Pilatos, one of Seville’s finest palaces. The complex began to take shape in the late 15th century and was expanded by successive generations of the Enríquez de Ribera family. Its popular name is linked to the Via Crucis established by Fadrique Enríquez de Ribera, the first Marquis of Tarifa, after his pilgrimage to Jerusalem. You’ll see beautiful Roman busts, an exciting fusion of Renaissance and Mudéjar architectural styles, and the historic art collections preserved within the palace.

Today your chauffeur will take you south to Jerez de la Frontera for two privately arranged bodega visits and tastings. Jerez’s historic bodegas are woven through the city center, making it easy to combine the wine visits with lunch before returning to Seville. Like Oporto—with its urban port lodges and distant vineyards—Jerez’s historic center is punctuated by emblematic “Bodegas.”
The Jerez wine region is protected by the Denominations of Origin Jerez-Xérès-Sherry and Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The day begins with a private tour of Lustau, a venerable institution founded in 1896.
