Marche Wine Region Map
Stretching along the Adriatic Coast of Italy, the beautiful Marche region borders Umbria and Emilia Romagna and indeed is very near Tuscany. The two most famous wines from Marche are the Verdicchio whites (whose wine bottles are very unique and distinctive) and the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo reds. Other grapes produced in this area include Pecorino and Maceratino (whites); and Cilegiolo, Lacrima di Morro and Vernaccia Nera (reds). This region often called the “New Tuscany”, is home to stunning hill-topped medieval towns and villages and fine cities like Urbino, Ascoli Piceno, and Macerata.
