Alsace Wine Region Map
The Alsace wine region is quite possibly the most beautiful and idyllic in Europe, with its fairy tale hamlets reminiscent of The Brothers Grimm and the dramatic setting with the backdrop of the Vosges mountains and the Rhine River. The region is a patchwork of medieval villages that look like colorful chocolate boxes, castles, lush mountains, and vineyards. Strasbourg is the capital city and an absolute delight to visit for gourmet food, wine lovers, and history lovers. Colmar’s”Little Venice” district looks like a movie set for Beauty and the Beast and is very culturally rich with museums and delightful architecture. As wonderful as these two towns are, the best thing about Alsace is visiting the wine villages. Kayserberg, Riquewihr, Ribeauville, and Eguisheim are some of the most stunning little gems. Many of the wine estates are located right in the town centers, and the majority of the winery tours are led by the owners- charming, intimate, and very hospitable. Alsace is most famous for its rich and aromatic white wines, and you can expect to taste absolutely delicious examples of Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Riesling.
