Burgundy Wine Region Map
The Burgundy wine country is home to some of the most famous wine appellations in France, from the great white wine regions of Chablis, Pouilly-Fuisse, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault; to the mythical red wine communes of Vosne-Romanée, Gevry-Chambertin, Nuits-St-Georges, Vougeot, Pommard and so many more! The fine wines of the grand cru vineyards of the Cote d’Or (with its two sub-regions of Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune) are some of the most expensive and collectible wines in the world. The region’s flagship grapes are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which suits the terroir perfectly, with its cooler climate. Quality wine has been made here since the Middle Ages and the region offers a wonderful array of historic towns, monasteries, abbeys, and delightful pastoral scenery. Dijon and Beaune are wonderful bases to explore this quaint corner of France and both offer some of the best gastronomic experiences in the country.
